Meet the Creator

Just Nuts©™ began as a love letter—first to dancers.
In rehearsal, I was drawn to those unguarded moments when dancers move simply for the pleasure of moving: when ballet dissolves into social dance, when jazz slips into club movement, when a hip roll or groove carries as much poetry as formal choreography. There is freedom, humor, sensuality, and humanity in those moments, and I wanted to build a work that celebrates that joy.
 

It is also a love letter to LGBTQ+ community—an offering born from resilience, chosen family, and the radical act of joy. In a world often shadowed by fear and division, Just Nuts©™ imagines celebration as resistance. It honors a community that has long transformed struggle into beauty, wit, glamour, and collective liberation.

The work is deeply inspired by the visual and sonic exuberance of the 1970s—the glitter and grit of disco,
the colors and textures, the theatricality of fashion, and
the ecstatic pulse of the dance floor. I’m drawn to that post-hippie moment when experimentation, pleasure,
and self-invention collided, and where movement itself became an expression of freedom.
 

At its heart, Just Nuts©™ comes from a simple but urgent impulse: the need for joy in dark times. To make a piece where laughter, music and communal celebration are not escape, but nourishment. A Nutcracker reimagined as a fabulous act of delight.
